My first blog!

I am starting this blog because I constantly have little fitness tips running through my head--I want to share them with everyone, but I don't want to send out a million emails. So in this blog I will let you know of low calorie food options. I will give tips on how to use proper form while working out. I will advise you on how to run a successful business.
This blog will be a little bit of everything. If I see a good deal or a good product, or if I find a way to make your life easier, I will post it! I am here to do all the heavy lifting so you can focus more on your friends, family and whatever else gets you up in the morning.

Tip #1
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray
This stuff tastes just like butter--seriously! But unlike butter, it has 0 calories, 0 carbs, 0! 0! 0! It's a no thinking food--you just do it!

Tip #2 Sara Lee 45 calorie 100% Whole Wheat Bread
That's right people, 1 piece of bread is only 45 calories! That is a huge savings! Most bread is 70+ calories a slice. Now you can eat that sandwich without guilt. And it tastes good. Tim and I tried another brands 40 calorie bread and it was eh. So skip trying anything else...take my advice and go and get your Sara Lee bread!

Okay and more thing for now-- Heinz Ketchup has just come out with a Reduced Sugar Ketchup. It has 5 calories per tablespoon and 1 sugar! Regular ketchup has 15 calories and 4 sugars. These calories can add up so quickly because you don't think about them when you are dipping your french fries or when you are adding them to your favorite sandwich or burger. Tim and I just bought this yesterday so we have not tried it yet. I am hoping it is delicious because I love ketchup and a healthier option would be fabulous. I will let all of you know as soon as we open it.

Well I hope this has inspired you a bit today.

  1. Unfortunately during my fitness and nutrition career, I have had to endure a lot of misinformation concerning our overall health. So I have decided to address fitness and nutritional errors with my new website (www.eleetfitness.com). COMING SOON! Do I believe I know everything about health and fitness? Absolutely not but I have gathered together a team of psychologists, physical therapists, dieticians, and doctors to help dispel some of the common myths about the industry. Here are a few regarding this post.

    TIP# 1
Spray butter and margarine issues have become well known as research has revealed some serious health issues with the active ingredients. Just because something is low calorie does not mean it is healthy. Please take a look at the research on Trans fatty acids (hydrogenated oils and partially hydrogenated oils) and soy (http://www.westonaprice.org/bookreviews/inflammation-nation-review.html, http://www.westonaprice.org/foodfeatures/butter.html,
    http://www.westonaprice.org/soy/tragedy.html ).
Here are some examples of the problems with these products. Unfermented soy can retard the thyroid causing an over production of estrogen and possible long term weight gain (this weight gain usually effects women in their 40s and 50s caused by thyroid dysfunction). Also it isn't even really calorie or Trans fat free! The nutritional facts are rounded down to the decimals caused by the minute serving size. If you melted real butter and put it in a spray bottle, a single spray would have a similar calorie and fat count! Additionally if you saw (or smelled) this stuff before it is steam cleaned, bleached, flavored, and dyed... it doesn't even resemble something eatable. Just use real butter from grass fed cows.

    TIP #2
I will come back to bread as it is a long subject.

    TIP#3
The only thing different between the regular Heinz and this product is the type of sweetener used. Both High Fructose Corn Syrup (found in many brands of soda) and Sucralose have serious health dangers.

    Heinz Reduced Sugar Ketchup
INGREDIENTS: TOMATO CONCENTRATE FROM RED RIPE TOMATOES, DISTILLED VINEGAR, SALT, NATURAL FLAVORING, ONION POWDER, **SUCRALOSE, SPICE.
    Heinz Regular Ketchup
INGREDIENTS: TOMATO CONCENTRATE FROM RED RIPE TOMATOES, DISTILLED VINEGAR, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, CORN SYRUP, SALT, SPICE, ONION POWDER, NATURAL FLAVORING.

Please take a look at the research on artificial sweeteners (http://www.westonaprice.org/modernfood/sugarfree_blues.html). Make sure you are checking all labels for more than just calorie and sugar count.

  2. Thanks Randy for all the great information. I too do not claim to know everything about health and fitness--I just know what has worked/is working for me. I am definitely not a nutritionist. I just try and keep my carb, calorie, sugar, protein, and fat intake under control. My tips are not to be read as if coming from a doctor, but from a girl who has lost weight, built muscle, and is now enjoying being fit and healthy. I welcome all your information and look forward to learning more from your site!
